Scholar Awards & Recognitions

  • It is a pleasure to award the first annual Andre Chevalier Legendary Scholarship in Honor of Andre “Dre”Chevalier and his Lifetime dedication to Advocacy, Achievement, Education and Commitment to Black Excellence at Cleveland High School.

  • The Sankofa is a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol, typically depicted as a bird or heart, that represents looking at the past for wisdom to best build toward the future. The Village Nation Sankofa Scholarship Award is designed to recognize a high school senior of African Descent who embodies the importance of passing on wisdom, care, and commitment to the generations to come.

    This year's (2024) recipient is Madison Hamilton.

  • The Village Nation has been blessed to have its very own God-Mother, Dr. Watts, who has imparted her DNA into the work we do. Dr. Watts has dedicated more than 50+ years in service as an educator, and more than 14 years with the Village Nation. Dr. Joyce Germaine Watt’s leadership, sacrifices, activism, and grace will forever ripple thru The Village Nation’s legacy.
