Fluke Fluker
Although it is work in progress, my goal is to one day be the man I would like my daughters to marry.
Awakened and raised in the Republic of Brooklyn, Fluke Fluker was inducted into the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17. At 19 ½ he became one of the youngest sergeants in Marine Corp peacetime history. After an honorable discharge, Fluker’s Student-Athlete journey travel through Mira Costa Community College and California State University, Northridge where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology, a Masters in African American studies, a teaching credential in Secondary Education and an honorary doctorate. Fluke’s new consciousness of self, invoked a lifelong dedication to our youth
As head instructor at Pierce Community College, Fluke directed the emancipating Independent Living Program for challenged youth entangle in the court and detention pipeline systems. During his 40 years of teaching and coaching, Mr. Fluker has demonstrated his leadership skills by developing and implementing conflict resolution, cultural awareness, life skills and transitional services curriculum. In 2003 Fluke co-founded The Village Nation, an organization designed unapologetically to challenge and empower African American youth towards pursing Black excellence.
His vast experience and passion for teaching has made him not only an effective coach, mentor, teacher, and activist but also lead to being featured on the Oprah Show, MoNique, at the Essence Music Festival, California Superintendent’s “Closing the Achievements Gap Summit” and in the 2009 & 2010 Who’s Who of Black Los Angeles publication, He was an invited speaker for a United Nation youth conference.
Mr. Fluker’s commitment to youth has established him as a man of integrity and character, bringing him numerous awards and acclamation, but none greater than his title as father. Fluke and his Queen, Darnique, are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Brooke-Lynn and Jazz.
